Here are my hotel recommendations based on my research.
- Windmill Kimolos-offers a splendid view
- Psathi Blue
- Bonatsa Beach House
These three hotels are on the slightly higher range, starting from $160.
Of course, there are more expensive hotels that don’t suit the majority of the travellers.
There are one or two lodges, but they don’t come anything less than $50 per night.

Top 7 Unforgettable Kimolos Island Highlights for You:
Here, the beaches are the main places to visit. When compared to Milos Island, the beaches on Kimolos are rather empty. In most of the beaches, you can have the place to yourself.
All the beaches wear white sand. Chorio is the capital of the island.
Beaches near Chorio:
- Aliki Beach
- Psathi Beach
- Banasta Beach
- Klima Beach
- Karras Beach
- Mavrospilla Beach
As you will be staying near the Psathi port, these 5 beaches are where you will be spending most of your time.
Somehow, the Aegean Sea is very clean.
I believe it may be due to the lack of many marine creatures.
A few more suggestions include a visit to AgiosGeorgios Beach, Dekas Beach, and Fikiada Beach.
Overall, 3 beaches are said to be nudist beaches. Generally, such beaches are isolated.
Visiting some fishing villages:
Tourists who come to Kimolos love to swim and play around the beaches. In late evenings, they go to a few villages to interact with the natives.
They are offered something to drink. The following places are recommended.
- Kastro
- AgioGeorgios
- Goupa
- Dekas
Go to see Skiadi.
The natural rock formation that resembles a mushroom is the biggest attraction.
Just to see this, tourists come here from other Cyclades Islands. All around it, the scene is desolate, and barren.
Did you notice a church on the way? Surprisingly, the typical Greek Blue color is missing.
Sadly, the majority of the tourists don’t bother to come here as they have to walk for an hour, bearing the hot sun.
Visit an old castle:
Don’t imagine a castle with great architecture with imposing entrance and spacious halls.
This is it. I think it is worth a visit.
Note:
The island is named after the first resident’s on this island. He was known as Kimolos.
Visit Polyaigos:
It’s a beautiful island near Kimolos. Just 2 km of sea lies between them.
Polyaigos is an uninhabited island. However, you can find several wild goats here. I wonder how they survive here.
The only other life you can see is a few Mediterranean Monk Seals.
When you enter the caves abutting the shore, you will disturb their peaceful nap.
Sea Cruise from Milos:
It is an interesting way to see Kimolos, and Polyaigos from the Aegean Sea. Boat cruises are offered from Milos Island.
The boat tour lasts from 4 to 6 hours. However, they are very expensive costing more than $1500
There is another sea cruise on a sail boat. This tour from Milos lasts two days and a night on the sea.
Isn’t the seascape very scenic? It is exactly as seen in movies. The sea looks very calm. There are no big waves. The water is greenish.
The mountains that lie as backdrops to the sea add a dramatic appearance. I think they are made of volcanic ash.
There are a few sea arches that formed due to erosion.
Museum to visit:
A small museum is a good place to visit. It is located in Chorio. The displays are mainly from archaeological finds.
Bird watching on Kimolos Island:
Not many bird species are found in this part of Greece. Flamingos come here as migratory birds.
Since the islands here have cliffs, you are sure to find some rapture species that include falcon, bussard, and eagle.
Barn owls make a rare appearance.
What to buy?
The Greek Islands are famous for pottery, and wooden handicrafts.
In conclusion, Kimolos deserves a day trip from Milos.
